Ok I need to get this off my chest. After various meetings this week I feel a deep need to share this information with you.
I have exposure to many different types of business owners and creatives—some raising money, some who have already raised money, some who have built their business purely as a hobby, maybe it's a side gig and supplements their full time job, maybe they are transitioning from full time to freelance. Maybe they're growing their business, maybe they have a seed for a new project, maybe they want new clients.
I list this out because it shows the breadth of the types of people I work with.
But let me tell you this — these people are all human. And they all share similar struggles and need similar support.
A few things I’d love for you to consider…
Just because someone looks like they are successful, in whatever you define as success, please assume you know nothing unless you've literally seen under the hood of their business, their project, their cashflow, etc etc etc etc. You need to spend less time thinking about other people and more time focusing on you.
I would seriously consider doing self-development work alongside building your business, getting new clients, launching a side project. The better you know yourself the better you can make decisions, work with other humans, articulate your wants and needs, work with your body and operating system etc. Whether it's therapy, astrology, human design, a coach or all of them, start to get introspective. It will help immeasurably.
Vision and action go hand in hand. Treat it as a rinse and repeat situation. Where do I want to get to? What action do I need to take to get me there? What can I do today to take 1% action towards that goal? Truly this is the secret. Match vision with action and you will move forward. FYI action can look like lying horizontal and doing nothing. Learn to listen to your body.
Truly I don't think anyone actually knows what they're doing. I think people have a strong intuition and follow that. I think people have support systems that are invisible like family and relationships that help with confidence. I think people have more connected networks that may contribute to success. But no one actually knows the answer. We're all figuring it out. So next time you speak negatively to yourself, please find some compassion. Rub your heart. And give yourself some love.
Here is a very ugly google doc that provides a framework for you to start thinking about you and what you’re doing. I hope it helps. Please stay on your team. You’re wonderful.
Happy Friday.
Lots of love as always,
